I'm an 18 year old University bound student from New Zealand, planning to do a double major in Classical Studies and Writing Studies at Auckland University. Till now I was a student at Henderson High School, graduating in 2010. I have a passion writing, living life and spending time with friends and family. For fun I love photography and filming/editing videos. I have an entire wall dedicated solely to photos. I could probably lay off lift + (best energy drink in existence) and my constant facebooking, but i'm afraid i'd go into withdrawal. I pride myself on being a fangirl, and can easily get into the hype of a great franchise.
Interests:
Podcasts
I'm a big fan of podcasts, which are like radio news stations but ones that discuss only your favourite topics. They can be humourous, professional, informative, fun and just an enjoyable way to pass time. Podcasts I enjoy listening too are Mugglecast, a Harry Potter podcast, and Imprint, a Twilight podcast (yes I am a Twilight AND Potter fan, insert gasp here). Both podcasts are extremely well produced and award winning shows. I'd definitely recommend a listen. Both shows are released on a bi-weekly basis and deliver book and character analysis, speculation, event coverage, news updates, interactive listener segments and more! All around great work. The creator of Mugglecast Andrew Sims shares my nickname (Sims) for obvious reasons, which is a pretty neat.
Photoshop is my god. I like designing graphics and fanart inspired mostly by television shows and/or celebrities. For a time I was part of the artists section on Huddy Online, and some of my work is posted there. I also love video editing, particularly music videos. To design and edit my music videos I use the simple not-too-flashy program Windows Movie Maker. Music videos is mostly putting clips to the beat of your favourite music, they can be humourous, thematic, sad, chipper or tell a story, and they're a brilliant way to build up your skills.
My Inspiration:
JK RowlingJoanne Rowling is the reason I have such passion for writing. With the first word of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone she sparked the phoenomenon of a generation and a love for reading that will live on for many years. All because one day she decided to board a train at Kings Cross and a lightning scarred boy wizard swam in her imagination's eye. Her vision, imagination and the level of detail she puts into her world is incredible and despite her fame she is generous, grounded and level-headed. She remembers what being poor is like, giving her a sense of humility, she is my idol as a person as much as an author.
